Term two is off to a great start with our sports teams building teamwork and friendships. Coaches have settled into their roles and developing our teams to be the best they can be. Thank you to our parents for transporting your children to games on time and for being positive role models on the sidelines while supporting teams. The basketball season starts tonight at the TECT Arena. Good luck teams.

Selwyn Ridge School Cross Country
Tuesday 22 May - Waipuna Park - pp Thursday 25 May

We are all looking forward to our school cross country event. All classes will walk, supervised to Waipuna Park through the reserve on the day. Races will start at 12.05pm and finish by 2.30pm. Certificates for place-getters will be presented after each race. Sausages and juicies will be on sale at the event but will need to be pre-ordered the day before. Sausages are $2 and juicies $1.50. Food sales will be available for parents and families on the day. The Long Black Coffee Cart will also be at the event.

Helpers are still needed with the setting up of the course in the morning from 8.30am. Please let Julie know if you can help in anyway by setting up/dismantling the course or marshalling! Race times and a course map are on the school notice board, our website and included here. A flyer will go home with your child next week.

Tauranga Open Cross Country
Saturday 26 May - Waipuna Park - rain or shine

Selwyn Ridge will be organising a school team involving all ages again this year. We have held the school points trophy for having placegettters in all ages, in the past three years. This is a great event where children can represent our school and gain points as they cross the finish line. Entry forms will be in the school oce soon. Children need only to run their race then they can go home to relax.

Amazing Race Team
Our Amazing Race Team did amazingly, competing and representing our school recently. The school trophy was handed over from us to Otumoetai Primary. Our school team won the “guess the lollies in the jar” event and also had the fastest schools’ sprinter, Zane Hamilton in their team. Thanks to the team for working well together to complete the challenges

Rippa Rugby
Our World Cup Rippa Rugby teams have been selected and will continue training until the event on Wednesday 16 May at Blake Park. Thank you to all children who trialled. The teams will be representing New Zealand at the tournament. Go New Zealand!
