Welcome to
Selwyn Ridge School
Wow! What a wonderful two days we had with our healthy active learning celebration field days. The weather turned it on and it was great to see the joy of the tamariki as they all took part in the wide range of physical education and movement activities. Special thanks to our friends from Sport Bay of Plenty who came and helped today. Thanks also to Mrs Crompton and Mrs Taylor for the organising! Mauri tū, mauri ora - an active spirit is a living spirit
A beautiful day for our final mihi whakatau of the year. Ngā mihi to all our year 6 kapa haka members who have welcomed so many tamariki to our kura and will soon be heading off on their own next adventure. And a huge welcome to all our new whānau. We are so looking forward to learning with you all.
Rooms 15 & 16 were lucky to have Megan from 'Hands on Tauranga' come in to teach then more about our native flightless Kiwi. Did you know only 5 out of 100 eggs survive in the wild? We learnt about predators and sanctuaries - the different ways we are trying to help save our Kiwi.
Mōrena whānau, To kick off Week 5 we had an awesome MMM. Whāea Roz spoke to us about 'JOY' - the importance of finding a little bit of joy every day. She talked about how joy can be a place, people, animals, food, nature or even a toy - everyone is different - what brings you joy? We were reminded to take a moment each day to stop and just look around and take notice of the joy all around us, the things that make our hearts full. We also acknowledged a few weeks worth of SRP Bookmark Awards - wow! mahi whakamiharo, amazing work:) We love celebrating all the outstanding achievements across our kura. A shout out to Mia & Marlee presenting to Rooms 3, 5, 6, 10, 14 & 18 for achieving 100% active travelling last week - keep up the the fantastic work (whānau we appreciate your support in encouraging the walking, scootering and dropping your kids a little farther from the school gate for a park n stride). Have a great week - enjoy the sunshine. E huri tō aroaro ki te rā tukuna tō ataarangi ki muri a koe Turn your head to the sun and let your shadow fall behind you
So proud of our beautiful and talented tamariki who've worked so hard to pull off a stunning performance at Pasifika in the Bay today. Huge thanks to Ms Hall, Krystal and the team who supported them.
Tavake ready to take to the stage at Pasifika in the Bay. Cheeeehooo
Kia ora whānau, In our Soaring High hui today we were lucky to have our very own Tavake Pasifika group perform for us - wow, you were all so awesome - a big shout out to Ms Hall and the crew behind the scenes. We wish you all the best for your Pasifika Festival in the Bay 2025 tomorrow. Congratulations to all our certificate award winners - ka rawe tō mahi! And to finish off we acknowledged our amazing kaiāko for all their passion, dedication and drive to make a difference for all our ākonga! Happy World Teachers’ Day:) Kia pai ngā rā whakatā.
This term classes are busy digging into the past, the 'olden times' and way back when! There is fantastic mahi happening all around our kura. Look at some of our amazing ākonga - our local authors Ronal & Joy from R10 shared their chapter book writing and R10 ākonga enjoyed trying the butter they made with a churn in class, we also had tamariki from R7 dressed up in some historic clothing - comfy but a bit hot they reckoned! A shout out to Willow R9 who shared with us her Whaka Kids medal and adventures from the Redwoods and to top it off we saw some spooky mahi toi from R16. Mahi whakamataku - awesome wo
