2026 - Terms 2 & 3 Hockey - Years 5&6

Welcome to the KiwiSticks Hockey season - Hockey is played during Term 2 and Term 3.  

This season there will be an option for Year 5&6 players to play on either a Wednesday afternoon or Saturday morning. This midweek competition provides an alternative to Saturday mornings, helping reduce clashes with other sports.

Teams will need a coach, manager and an umpire. A fee for a team umpire is included in the fees. The umpire could also be a parent or older silbling who has experiecne or completed the umpire workshops. Please go to the following website for weekly draws and coaches/umpires information: www.tgahockey.co.nz.

Wednesday Afternoons - Kiwi Sticks - Games are played on Wednesday afternoons at the TGA Hockey Turf starting at 4:20pm. Depending on how many teams entered in the league, there maybe two time slots. 

Game Format: Each game will consist of three 12minute periods with a 2minute break between periods and 5 minute break between games. There is only one divison for this competition.

Important: Players can only participate in one competition per week either Wednesday or Saturday. 

Season Starts: Wednesday 6 May -  Wednesday 26 August - 14 Weeks

* No hockey July school holidays  

Fees: $140

 

Saturday Mornings - Kiwi Sticks - Games are played on Saturday mornings at the TGA Hockey Turf anytime from 8:30am to last game finishing at 11am subject to team entries. Players will be placed in either Black or White division depending on their skill level.

Game Format: Each game will consist of x3 13 minute periods with x2 3 minute breaks.

Important: Players can only participate in one competition per week either Wednesday or Saturday.

Season Starts: Saturday 2 May - Saturday 29 August - 14 Weeks

* No hockey Kings Birthday weekend (Saturday 30 May)
* No hockey July school holidays (Saturday 4,11 & 18 July)

Fees: $140

Saturday Morning Hockey Divisions: 

KiwiSticks - Black - Yr 5&6 (1/4 turf)

Teams of players who have 3 or 4 years hockey experience

Teams predominately year 6 players

All kiwisticks games are played on quarter turf. 

 KiwiSticks - White -  Yr 5&6 (1/4 turf)

Teams of players who have not played before or have played for 1-3 years

Teams with predominately year 5 players

All kiwisticks games are played on quarter turf.

Uniform: School PE shirt and suitable sports shorts, black or navy long socks, shin pads, mouthguard and shoes must be worn. Sports jackets will be issued to players. Players will need their own hockey stick. Mouthguards will be provided to all players before the season starts thanks to the sponsorship of Bay Orthodontics.
