🪔✨ Happy Diwali – The Festival of Lights! ✨🪔
This week, we celebrated Diwali by learning about some of the meanings and traditions behind this special festival, enjoyed by millions of people around the world, including right here in New Zealand.

Vara, Navi, Jazlyn, Paris and Harjot for talking about some of the beautiful traditions of Diwali, including decorating homes with colourful rangoli patterns, sharing delicious food, spending time with family and friends, and lighting little lamps called diyas.

Also ngā mihi to R9 for sharing their Diwali art, R19 for displaying their diya pinch pottery and Rooms 2 & 4 for performing a lively Diwali song - ka rawe to mahi!
A big congratulations to all our amazing certificate recipients for soaring high with their manawa, whakaaro and kete. And of course, to our Diwali colouring competition winners stunning us with their design and bold colour combinations.
But, most importantly, we explored the special messages behind the Festival of Lights – hope, kindness, new beginnings and togetherness.
We were reminded that we don't need a lamp or candle to shine brightly. We can all be a light for someone else by showing kindness, including others, helping those around us and celebrating the different cultures and traditions that make our community so special. We saw this all around our kura during break times today where we enjoyed bouncing bubbles, delightful dancing, tremendous tunes and creating picturesque patterns all around the place. Our Diwali crew made a delicious sweet treat that was delivered to classes for every tamariki within the school.
A beautiful reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can brighten someone's day! 🌟
