Selwyn Ridge would like to give children the opportunity to play Tee-Ball or Diamond Ball (softball). All games are played on a Saturday morning during Term 1. Tee-Ball, Diamond Ball are all fun games that anyone can play, it teaches the basics of throwing, catching, base running, batting, and teamwork….. and is all over in an hour or so.

The games are played at Carlton Ballpark, 412 Ngatai Road, Bellevue, home of Western Bay of Plenty Softball and Tauranga Baseball Club, starting weekly on Saturday 14th February until Saturday March 21st. A 6-game season.

Fees $25.00 per player. Teams are ideally 12 players.

The game times are:
9am: U8 Tee-Ball (60 mins) Years 0-4
10am: U11 Diamond Ball which is simular to softball (60 mins) Years 5-6
It is recommended to be at the park 15 minutes before game time.

All the gear is provided by the organiisers. Players will need to wear our school PE shirts and suitable sports shoes and shorts.
You may wish to purchase a glove and a ball for your child, and they are available online from “The Dugout” in Avondale, Rebel Sports or Trade Me. Balls for Children are the 9 inch Baseball, 10.5 inch or 11 inch soft or hard ball and gloves are 9 inch through to 11.5 inch sizing, depending of the child’s hand size.

There will be a  “Have a Go” day on Sunday 8th February, 10am-12pm that everyone can come down and give Tee-Ball and Diamond Ball/Softball a try. We will try our best to find senior players to “Buddy” with the team and help with coaching and game time but we would also like to hear from any parents who would like to be the team manager, team scorer, team pitcher (Diamond Ball) or even umpire games.
